I see painting as a means of expressing myself and interpreting the world as I see it, giving the ordinary a little Slaughter-twist! I view my works as all unfinished or incomplete. The art I've created is a puzzle piece... and the puzzle is only complete when the viewers react to my artwork. My art, along with any other types of artwork, strikes a memory, conjures a thought or an experience from the past and hopefully stirs the emotions and creates a positive experience for the viewer. I look at those memories, experiences and emotions as puzzles. I look at my artwork as that last, final piece necessary to complete that puzzle. I find inspiration in the regular, everyday world around me. From a person on the street, to an image in the daily newspaper or something I’ve run across online. Inspiration also sometimes comes from something overheard, or an action that strikes me as interesting. Occasionally, my own memories are recollected upon and just a memory is turned into a tangible memory as a painting, drawing or sculpture. I am always coming across inspiration in my day-to-day life. Inspiration and art can be found everywhere. It all just depends on how you look at,and look into life. Art imitates life, and life itself is art.
